Shanghai Himalaya Art Museum will launch "Three Contemporary Art Exhibitions by Zhuo Fumin, Zhou Shichao and Geng Geng" from now until November 24, 2024, which is once again a response to social reality and a note to reality in an artistic way. Curated by Shen Qibin, director of Shanghai Himalayan Art Museum, the exhibition consists of three solo exhibitions by Zhuo Yimin, Zhou Shichao and Geng Geng. The exhibition name, "DA", represents the collective strength of the three dragons when they gather. This is a time of individual weakness and individual fragmentation, from the individual to the group, from the group to the collective unconscious, to the dissolution and alienation of the individual.

Among them, Zhou Shichao has always been able to navigate in the field of art. The use of "escape" in this exhibition reflects the distance between his heart and the real world, he maintains the delicate relationship between art and reality, and also reflects his inner pursuit of freedom, introversion, calm and transcendence, and also reflects his inner pursuit of high and easy as a Chinese scholar. Viewers can feel the unique charm of Zhou Shichao's artistic style in "Yi", and jointly witness his continuous pursuit of transcendence and a higher realm of art. I named his solo exhibition "Escape", which is a kind of providence. Escape, in Chinese is a more meaningful level of general standard Chinese characters, the font from the rabbit, according to the rabbit is good at running and understanding, the original meaning is to escape. From this, it is dispersed and lost, and it is extended to exceed the scope, and then it is said to be quiet and happy, until it is said to be extraordinary and exceptional. A Chinese character so constantly expanding, changing, from physical to metaphysical, from simple to transcendent to extraordinary, really means a lot.

This solo exhibition of Zhou Shichao, Yi, reflects the distance between his heart and the real world, the subtle relationship between art and reality, and the state of his inner pursuit of freedom, introversion, calm and transcendence. He is addicted to the art nouveau language, but also tries to constantly surpass the language itself, he is subject to his own language habits and experience, and always wants to withdraw from it, so he cycles between the tone, size, mood, language, etc., with the artistic way of playing life. Even his installation works are three-dimensional representations of this kind of language. He can achieve the subtlety and precision of language and simply achieve a kind of vivid visual enjoyment and aesthetics, but because of too much completeness, he loses a willful tension.

In the communication with Shi Chao, you can feel the energy contained in his heart and the burst of this energy. This exhibition is also our accomplice and accomplice in art. I am a little subjective and even dictatorial about the artist's coercion, but what he gives is surprise and amazing. He began to try to combine the discarded materials in reality with paintings, breaking the inherent aesthetic and inertia in language, hiding the semantics and concepts contained in the materials themselves, forming tension in a new language dimension, and bringing a new paradigm and possibility to his artistic creation.
